Your doctor may order an MRI test if you have a potential health issue in a specific portion of your body. MRIs can identify the problem that is causing your health issue. MRIs use magnetic frequency and radio waves to produce detailed images that can be used to monitor the development of abnormalities inside of the body. MRIs can also be used to rule out certain conditions that were thought to have been the cause of the health issue. MRIs can provide information to your physician and doctor about the inside of the body that otherwise would be unknown.
What to Avoid During an MRI
During an MRI it is best to refrain from wearing deodorant, powder, perfumes, cologne, lotion, makeup, sunscreen, or other skincare products that could interfere with the test. MRIs can also be distorted by tooth fillings, retainers, braces, jewelry, metallic fasteners in clothing, piercings, hearing aids, implants, prostheses, surgical staples, and more. Before entering the MRI room, you must also leave belongings such as your glasses, keys, wallet, and cell phone in the dressing room.
