MRI results aren’t available immediately after the scan. The radiologist that provided the MRI will send a report to the doctor who requested it. Many MRI centers take a week or two to get the results of an MRI but some can guarantee that results will be available within 24 hours. The results of the MRI scan are used to diagnose spine, knee, shoulder, hip, elbow, wrist, and other injuries. It can also be used to diagnose nerve damage, cartilage damage, tumors, diseases, and abnormalities. STAT exams and reports will also be available upon physician request.
Can You Talk During an MRI?
Patients are allowed to wear a headset during an MRI scan so that they can communicate to the technician who is running the exam. Patients can also listen to music during the MRI if they choose to. Listening to music and having the ability to communicate with the technician in charge are effective ways to ease anxiety for a lot of patients that are getting an MRI. Although you can talk, it is best to remain as still as possible during an MRI to guarantee the clearest images possible for the doctor to evaluate.
