An MRI test can provide the detailed images needed for your physician to detect injuries, diseases, or abnormalities. It can be used to detect small tears to ligaments and muscles, to diagnose diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, brain tumors, developmental anomalies, or primary bone tumors, and assist with diagnosis in abnormalities of the uterus, ovaries, or cervix. MRIs allow physicians to get a deeper insight into what is causing your condition.
How Long Do MRI Tests Take?
The amount of time it takes to have an MRI test will typically vary between 15 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on the size of the area. MRI tests are painless, and patients can use headphones or earplugs to drown out loud noises caused by the MRI machine. During the MRI test, you will need to remain in the same position for the best results and clear images. Excessive movement during the test will result in the test needing to be redone because the images may be unreliable and misrepresentative.
