What Should I Avoid During My MRI?

What Should I Avoid During My MRI?

During an MRI, you should avoid moving as much as possible to maximize scan quality and ensure that the images are clear. Excessive movement during a scan can make the images unusable and could require a rescan. Blurry imaging can be hard to read and misrepresent the position of body structures. During an MRI, you will need to wear cotton clothing or hospital gowns and must remove all metallic items such as glasses, hearing aids, watches, jewelry, credit cards, and more.

Can I Drive After My MRI?

If you require a mild sedative during your MRI, you cannot drive afterward and should have a ride arranged for you or have transportation provided to you from the MRI center. After the MRI with sedative, you can stay in the recovery room until you can comfortably stand and walk. If you go through it without any sedative, you are safe to drive afterward and resume your daily activities.
