What Should I Do Before MRI Imaging?

What Should I Do Before MRI Imaging?

Before MRI imaging, you should inform your doctor and radiologist of any medical conditions or implanted medical devices you have such as pacemakers or defibrillators. You should also inform your doctor and radiologist if you work at a job where flying metal debris is present and could be lodged in your body or if you have claustrophobia. Before MRI imaging, you will need to remove all metal and personal items such as jewelry, hair clips, car keys, purse, wallets, cell phones, etc.

How Long Does it Take to Get MRI Imaging?

MRI imaging is a painless and quick process that provides clear pictures of specific parts of the inside of the body. Most MRI imaging tests will take 30-60 minutes to complete but can vary based on the area of the body and how many images are needed. The MRI scan results can take up to two weeks to receive, but there are MRI centers that can guarantee results are interpreted within 24 hours of the test to ensure patients aren’t left stressed and waiting.
